Meet Youngest Indian Entrepreneur to Enter ₹ 1,000 Crore Club

Kaivalya Vohra and Aadit Palicha, co-founders of Zepto, have become the youngest entrepreneurs to appear on the IIFL Wealth-Hurun India Rich List 2022. Kaivalya is the youngest of the richest Indians, at the age of 19. Kaivalya is ranked 1036 on the Hurun list, with a net worth of 1,000 crore. Aadit Palicha is 950th in the list and has a net worth of Rs. 1,200 crore.

They had previously been named to Forbes magazine’s influential “30 under 30 (Asia list)” in the e-commerce category.

Youngest start-up founders

Both the young entrepreneurs are also the youngest start-up founders in the Hurun India Future Unicorn Index 2022. The inclusion of Vohra and Palicha in the list of India’s richest indicates the growing influence of the country’s startups.

“A teenager debuts the list! The youngest on the list is 19-year-old Kaivalya Vohra who founded Zepto. The youngest, ten years ago, was 37 and today, is 19, indicating the impact of the startup revolution,” Hurun India Rich List mentioned.

Vohra and Palicha were Stanford University students who dropped out of their computer science class to pursue entrepreneurship. In the days of the pandemic, both friends founded Zepto in 2021 to meet the growing demand for quick and contactless delivery of essential items.

Palicha started his entrepreneurial journey at the age of 17 when he founded a carpool service for students named GoPool in 2018. Before launching his startup, he was a project lead with PryvaSee, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based project on privacy policies.

First launched Kiranakart

The two childhood friends, who grew up in Dubai, first launched Kiranakart, an online platform that delivered groceries from local Mumbai stores. It was in service from June 2020 to March 2021. Then, in November, they raised $60 million in an initial funding round to launch Zepto in April 2021. In December, the quick grocery delivery platform raised $100 million at a valuation of $570 million. In May 2022, Zepto raised $200 million at a valuation of $900 million in its most recent round of funding.
