At a press conference in Chandigarh, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khatter and Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala announced the launch of the PADMA (Program to Accelerate Development for MSME Advancement), a program to give infra boost to MSMEs.

There is a proposal to develop nearly 14, 000 new micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) in 140 small clusters across 6000 acres of land in Haryana. It will not only provide employment opportunities for 3 to 3.5 lakh unemployed youths but also attract investment worth Rs. 25 to 30 lakh crore.

Aims of PADMA scheme

"Based on the principles of 'local yet global', the PADMA aims to create self-sustainable and thriving industrial infrastructure at the cluster level for each block of Haryana," Manohar Lal Khattar, the CM of Haryana said at the scheme's inauguration.

PADMA scheme to provide job opportunities

The PADMA program is a multi-department program that would not only promote local products but also provide job opportunities to the youth, particularly the Antyodaya Anna Yojana beneficiaries. "The MSME sector plays a significant role in the economic landscape of Haryana, contributing over 22 % to the Gross State Value Added (GSVA)," said Khattar.

One product in each block has been identified under the PADMA scheme

According to the Chief Minister, one product has been identified under the PADMA scheme in each block of 22 districts, covering all 140 blocks in the state, based on locally available resources, existing micro-enterprise ecosystem, demographic profile, key opportunities, sunrise sectors, and growth potential.
