  • The pharmaceutical company, Zydus Cadila, has begun supplying the government with the vaccine.
  • ZYCOV-D is beneficial to patients who avoid vaccinations owing to a fear of needles.

Fear of needles is a major cause for many to not take the vaccination. But as the third wave of covid is wiping at the corner, the importance of Covid vaccination is known by all. Finally, a needless vaccination is on its way to help those fearing needles. India’s first needless Covid vaccination, ZyCov-D is launched in Patna, Bihar.

Another pharmaceutical company, Zydus Cadila, has begun supplying the government with the coronavirus vaccine. The ZyCoV-D vaccination is needle-free, which means you won’t have to endure the discomfort of a needle pricking after receiving it. This vaccine will be administered to patients who have not yet received a corona vaccine.

Painless and Needleless vaccination

According to Civil Surgeon Dr. Vibha Singh, the initiative has so far been started at three vaccination centers. ZYCOV-D is beneficial to patients who avoid vaccinations owing to a phobia of needles.
“Painless and Needleless ZYCOV-D Covid Vaccine launched in Patna. Three doses will be given at intervals of 28 days and 56 days. This program has been started at 3 vaccination centers. It is good for people who are afraid of needles”, a tweet shared by ANI.

ZyCov-D, India’s indigenous Covid-19 vaccine

After Covaxin, ZyCov-D is India’s second indigenous Covid-19 vaccine. However, it is a needleless vaccination that has been produced on a plasmid DNA platform, making it unique in nature. ZyCov-D has previously been approved for use in children aged 12 to 15, but it will be given to adults in India initially.

How will it be given?

ZyCov D is prepared by the pharmaceutical giant Zydus Cadila. The needless vaccination is given in three doses in a gap of 28 and 56 days. Each of the three doses will be given in two shots, one on the right and the other on the left arm. To be fully vaccinated against ZyCoV-D, an individual would need six shots of the vaccine.
