Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign: Honoring heroes for unity and patriotism, Know everything

As India prepares to celebrate its 77th Independence Day on August 15, a new initiative called the “Meri Mati Mera Desh” campaign is set to make this year’s festivities even more meaningful. With its launch on August 9 and continuing until Independence Day, this campaign aims to evoke patriotic feelings and foster unity among citizens. Unlike the previous year’s “Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan,” the details and goals of the “Meri Mati Mera Desh” campaign are eagerly awaited, but it’s anticipated to be a key component of the celebratory spirit of independence.

About the Campaign

Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the “Meri Mati Mera Desh” campaign during his 103rd ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio show on July 30. This initiative is a way to honor heroes through nationwide programs and the installation of special memorial plaques, known as shilaphalakams, near Amrit Sarovars. This campaign is closely tied to the ongoing Amrit Mahotsav celebrations and serves as a tribute to the contributions of brave individuals. The campaign’s duration extends from August 9 to Independence Day, August 15, 2023, followed by further events from August 16. The concluding ceremony is scheduled for August 30, 2023, in New Delhi, attended by prominent dignitaries.

Campaign Objective

The core objective of the “Meri Mati Mera Desh” campaign is to pay homage to the valiant freedom fighters and individuals who made remarkable sacrifices for the nation. Apoorva Chandra, Secretary of the Department of Information & Broadcasting and Telecom, stated that this initiative is the pinnacle of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, commemorating India’s 75 years of independence. Building upon the success of last year’s nationwide “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, this year’s ambitious program, “Meri Mati Mera Desh,” is designed to amplify the festivities of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Significance of the Campaign

The campaign launch comes with a comprehensive plan to honor the country’s martyrs. This includes nationwide programs and the installation of inscriptions in village panchayats, celebrating the lives of these heroes. A notable feature is the “Amrit Kalash Yatra,” which will gather soil and saplings from across the country, symbolizing unity at the National War Memorial’s “Amrit Vatika.” The campaign underscores the importance of respecting heroes through actions like plaque installations, soil reverence, and saluting their bravery.

Involvement and Engagement

Various programs, such as Shilaphalakam installations, and initiatives like Panch Pran Pratigya, Vasudha Vandan, and Veeron Ka Vandan, are integral to the campaign. It spans from August 9 to 30, 2023, with events at village, block, local urban bodies, state, and national levels. To encourage public engagement, a dedicated website (merimaatimaredesh.gov.in) has been launched. People can share selfies while holding clay lamps, symbolizing their commitment to a developed India and cultural heritage. This platform also enables taking the Pancha Prana pledge and downloading a participation certificate.

Youth Participation

Mita Rajeevlochan, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, highlights the active role of young people in the campaign. They can upload their activities, including selfies and tree planting, on the portal. The youth are enthusiastically invited to join this nationwide initiative, paying tribute to the nation’s heroes.

By celebrating the courage and sacrifices of the past, the “Meri Mati Mera Desh” campaign creates a unifying and patriotic atmosphere, fostering a sense of pride in India’s rich heritage and bright future.
