e-Shram card: Know the benefits and how to register



Under the umbrella of many important schemes launched by the central government, E-Shram cards for the poor of the country comes as a big scheme to provide assistance to the labour class. Unorganized sector workers can get financial help in any corner of the country by registering for e-shram card.

Objectives of e-Shram

The main objective is to create a centralised database of every construction worker, migrant worker, gig and platform worker, street vendor, domestic worker, agriculture worker etc, which will help to implement the social security services to them and share their information with various stakeholders for delivering the welfare schemes.

The next objective is the portability of the social security and welfare benefits to the migrant and construction workers and providing a comprehensive database to central and state governments for tackling any national crisis in future.

Who can register in e-Shram portal?

Any individual with the following conditions can register on the portal:

a) An unorganised worker. An unorganised worker is any worker who is a home based-worker, self-employed worker, or a wage worker in the unorganised sector.

b) Age should be between 16-59 years

c) Not a member of EPFO/ESIC or NPS

What is required for registration?

An individual must have these three pieces of information to register on the portal:

a) Aadhar number

b) Mobile number linked with Aadhaar. If a worker does not have an Aadhaar linked mobile number, he/ she can visit the nearest CSC’s and register through Biometric 
authentication

c) Savings bank account number with IFSC code

Benefits of E-Shram card

1. Workers registering with the e-shram portal will get an insurance benefit of up to Rs 2 lakh. This is under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.

2. If the worker dies in an accident or becomes completely physically disabled, then a sum of Rs 2 lakh and in case of partial disability Rs 1 lakh is given.

3. Yogi government promised to give Rs500 to all who register for the e-shram card.

How to register for e-Shram Card?

1. Registration can be done for the e-shram card in 3 easy ways.

2. Self-registration can be done through the e-shram portal by the website: http://eshram.gov.in.

3. Also, registration is done through Common Service Centers.

4. the regional offices of the state government in the districts/sub-districts are also doing the Registration.
