Center-State Science Conclave inaugurated by PM Modi with an aim




Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Centre-State Science Conclave via video conferencing on September 10 with the goal of facilitating an ecosystem of technology and innovation.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the first Conclave of its kind will strengthen Centre-State coordination and collaboration mechanisms in the spirit of cooperative federalism in order to build a robust science, technology, and innovation (STI) ecosystem across the country.

Sessions on various thematic areas

On September 10 and 11, the Conclave will be held at Science City in Ahmedabad. It will include sessions on various thematic areas such as STI Vision 2047; Future Growth Pathways and Vision for STI in States; Health – Digital Health Care for All; Doubling Private Sector Investment in R&D by 2030; Agriculture – Technological interventions for improving farmers’ income; Water – Innovation for producing potable drinking water; Energy – Clean Energy for All, including S&T role in Hydrogen mission; Deep Ocean Mission and its relevance for Coastal States /UTs as well as country’s future economy.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh were present at the conclave’s launch.

According to the PMO, the first-of-its-kind Conclave will be attended by Science and Technology Ministers and Secretaries of States and Union Territories, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, NGOs, young scientists, and students.

Importance of science and technology in future

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister highlighted that the organisation of this conclave is a clear example of Sabka Prayas. The Prime Minister remarked “Science is like that energy in the development of 21st century India, which has the power to accelerate the development of every region and the development of every state. Today, when India is moving towards leading the fourth industrial revolution, the role of India’s science and people related to this field is very important. In such a situation, the responsibility of people in administration and policy making increases significantly.”

The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of science in providing solutions, evolution, and innovation. With this inspiration, today’s new India moves forward with Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan, and Jai Anusandhan.

In concluding his speech, the Prime Minister expressed his belief that the ‘State-Centre Science Conclave’ will add a new dimension and resolve to the country’s scientific progress. The Prime Minister also urged everyone to seize every opportunity in science and technology.
