Bhawna Dehariya, a mountaineer and mother of a 15-month-old girl from the small town of Tamia in Chhindwara district, is on a mission to summit the world’s seven highest peaks. She recently returned to Bhopal after summiting Mt Elbrus. She had flown the tricolour over Mt Elbrus. She also holds a Guinness World Record.
She has successfully climbed Mt. Everest, Kilimanjaro, Kosciuszko, and Elbrus (both West and East). She had also climbed Mt Aconcagua in South America, reaching a height of 6500 m. She’d missed the summit by 500 metres. She will return to complete the summit of this mountain.
Completed the summit of 5 world’s highest peaks
Immediately after reaching Bhopal, she did not miss a single minute to meet her daughter. “My daughter Siddhi is my motivation. It is not easy to leave a 15-month-old daughter at home to go summiting the peaks,” said Bhawna. Her last summit was Mt Elbrus. Hailing the support of her husband and in-laws, she said, “Without their support, it was just impossible to complete summits of five peaks.”
She added that mountaineering is expensive. “I can complete the summit of the last two peaks this year only but the biggest challenge is the arrangement of finances. I am thankful that MP Tourism and SBI have supported me. I will require more funds to complete the mission of summiting world’s highest seven peaks,” said Bhawna.
Will go to conquer rest of the 2 world’s highest peak
Asked how tough it is after having a kid, Bhawna said, “Post-pregnancy, I was mentally prepared for the summit. I know, I have to make extra efforts to complete my dream. I have geared myself up and am also doing regular practice a lot in the mountains of Tamia.” She has completed the summit of Mount Manirang (6,593 m) and Draupadi ka Danda II (5,670m). Both peaks are in India. She will go for the rest of the two world’s highest peaks which are Denali and Vinson Massif.
