IIT Madras Provides Free Courses in AL, ML, Cyber Security & Computer Graphics with Placement Opportunities

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, the best-ranked institute in India according to the Government of India’s ranking, is offering free courses in “cutting-edge technologies.” The course’s top performers will also be eligible for employment with Sony India Software Centre. The Pravartak Technologies Foundation will help the remaining students find jobs in other companies by arranging interviews through the IITM PTF placement cell.

Academic performance in engineering degrees will be used to select students. Students who graduated in 2020-2021 or 2021-2022 with a minimum of 60% aggregate in all examinations and whose parents earn less than Rs. 8 lakh per year will be eligible to apply.

Written entrance examination would be conducted

In order to be chosen, a written entrance examination would be administered, followed by an interview. Students who pass the evaluation with the highest possible score are eligible for a stipend provided by the training programme.

As a result of a collaboration between Pravartak Technologies Foundation and Sony India Software Centre, these courses are aimed at providing students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds with industry-ready technical skills.

Provide training in different areas

The ‘Sony India Finishing School Skill Development Training Program,’ as it is known, will provide training in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning (AI/ML), cyber security, and computer graphics, in addition to Business Communication skills. Those interested should apply online at sonyfs.pravartak.org.in.

The duration of the course is approximately six months. It will be a full-time course, conducted in physical mode in classrooms provided by IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation. Certificates will be provided for the students on successfully completing the training program.

Highlighting the impact this program could have, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, said, “This program is intended to bridge the knowledge and skillset gap that exist between graduating students and the industry’s requirement. We hope that many students, specifically from non-urban parts of India will benefit from this initiative.”
