On July 24, 2022, Union Minister of Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the Vaccination Centre for Children at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA). In addition, he launched the Bal Raksha mobile app, which aims to raise parental awareness of paediatric preventive healthcare via Ayurvedic intervention.
The app will also ask parents for feedback on the kit’s impact on their children’s health and immunity. Sonowal paid tribute to Late Dr. Sanjay Gupta, who served as Head of Department at AIIA’s Shalya Tantra
Department before succumbing to a pandemic in 2020.
The Minister also addressed students at the Institute, motivating them by sharing information about how Ayurveda has gained global acceptance and what this means for students pursuing Ayurvedic studies.
When Sonowal arrived, Dr. Tanuja Manoj Nesari, Director of AIIAD, and faculty members greeted him. Jai Devi Kaushal, MLA from Malihabad in Uttar Pradesh, was also in attendance.
She was bringing saplings for the Institute’s plantation drive. Sonowal, Kaushal, and Dr. Nesari toured the Institute and planted saplings in the garden.
