Bastar women fly to Singapore; Receive Grit Awards held on July 22–23



On July 20, four tribal women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Chhattisgarh who work in the field of Minor Forest Produce Processing left for Singapore. These women will attend the ESG Grit Awards ceremony on July 22nd and 23rd.

This award must go to the women of Chhattisgarh for their contributions to sustainable development, poverty alleviation, and women’s empowerment. This award will be given to two women’s self-help groups from Jagdalpur and Korba, as well as the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association. This is likely the first time that members of women’s self-help groups have travelled abroad to receive an internationally prestigious award since the formation of the state of Chhattisgarh.

Bakavand Van Dhan Kendra members Padmini Baghel and Belabai Kashyap, as well as Donganala Van Dhan Kendra members Saroj Patel and Phulbai Neti, boarded a flight from Raipur to Delhi. Sanjay Shukla, Managing Director of the State Minor Forest Produce Association, leads this team. This group also includes Additional Managing Director B. Anand Babu and Forest Division Officer Stylo Mandavi. From Delhi to Singapore, this seven-person team will travel. Dr. Nisha Kohli of Carpstage Singapore will greet her there. Dr. Kohli is in charge of this event.

There will also be branding of Chhattisgarh Herbals

According to officials, these women from Chhattisgarh will receive the award in Singapore in front of more than 200 delegates from 150 countries. During this, she will also tell the story of Chhattisgarh’s sustainable development model. ‘Chhattisgarh-Herbals’ will be recognised all over the world during this ceremony, which will be attended by businessmen, bankers, investors, environmentalists, and government representatives from all over the world. This will encourage the development of small forest produce-based industries.
