IndiGo save a life by transporting Heart from Vadodara to Mumbai in 2.5 hours



Low-cost carrier IndiGo successfully transported a live organ – a donated heart – from Vadodara to Mumbai under 2.5 hours last week.

Live heart transferred safely to Global Hospitals in Mumbai

Team IndiGo safely transferred the live heart from the operation theatre in Vadodara to the Global Hospitals in Mumbai in two hour twenty two minutes, which was well within the stipulated limit of three hours 
for the live organ transfer.

The heart was harvested in a hospital in Vadodara by a team from Global Hospitals, Parel, and then brought to a hospital in Mumbai for a successful transplant, saving a life.

IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta congratulated his team for the effort and said his airline appreciates the opportunity to have contributed to saving a life.

“We are honoured to assist Global Hospitals’ staff in getting the live organ (heart) to the recipient on time and in a safe and efficient manner. Every life is valuable, and IndiGo is grateful for the chance to have 
helped save one. I’d also like to thank our Vadodara and Mumbai airport workers, as well as crew members, for their efforts “IndiGo’s CEO stated.

Global Hospitals, in a statement, conveyed its gratitude to Team IndiGo for successfully carrying out the critical transport.

“We would like to thank Mr. Manoj Dalvi, IndiGo’s Security Manager at Mumbai Airport, and Mr. Ramchandra Dwivedi, IndiGo’s Security Manager at Ahmedabad Airport, for their assistance in coordinating and assisting the Transplant team with all possible intercity transfers.

Last month, IndiGo also successfully helped transport a pair of lungs from Pune to Hyderabad.
