A woman police constable in Assam has received praise after being seen carrying her seven-month-old baby to work.
Rejoined office carrying her 7 month baby after maternity leave over
Sachita Rani Roy, a prosecutor assigned to the Silchar PI Court in the Cachar district, was seen walking into her office with her baby in a carrier. Ms Roy, after her maternity leave is over, arrives at the office with her baby at 10:30 a.m. every day and stays until the day’s work is completed.
She was forced to bring her baby because her request for leave was denied. The 27-year-old Sachita Rani Roy also stated that there is no one at home to care for the baby.
“I have no one at home to take care of my baby so I am forced to bring her along with me. It gets uncomfortable at times but I have no other option,” said Ms Roy.
Ms Roy’s husband is posted if different state
Ms Roy’s husband is a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan and is posted outside of Assam.
Ms Roy, a resident of Silchar’s Malugram area, expressed gratitude to her colleagues and the police department for being so accommodating.
“I do leave a little early as it gets very difficult for the baby to be with me throughout the day,” she added with a smile.
Ms Roy’s dedication to her responsibilities has earned her praise from all quarters. “I have applied for further leave but until it is approved, I will continue my duty this way,” she said.
