Highlights:

Commercial LPG cylinder prices have been reduced by Rs 135 in a major move by the Modi government to combat soaring inflation. The new 19-kg cooking gas tariff will be in effect across the country starting June 1.
The decision to reduce the price of commercial Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders is seen as a big relief to commoners who are facing the brunt of rising food prices.
New rates of LPG
As a result, a 19-kg LPG tank will now cost Rs 2,219 in Delhi, down from Rs 2,354. People in Mumbai will have to pay Rs Rs 2,171.50 instead of Rs Rs 2,306. Similarly, in Kolkata, the price would drop to Rs 2,322 from Rs 2,454 and in Chennai, it will drop to Rs 2,373 from Rs 2,507.
Domestic LPG price unchanged
Meanwhile, the price of domestic LPG or the 14.2-kg tank has remained unchanged.
Earlier, the price of a commercial LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 100 on May 1.Prior to this, a tank has already increased in price by Rs 250 on April 1 and Rs 105 on March 1.
LPG Cylinder rate is revised monthly for all the states and union territories in India.
In response to rising inflation, the government announced a significant reduction in central excise duty on gasoline and diesel just last month. The central excise duty on petrol was reduced by Rs 8 per litre, while the levy on diesel was reduced by Rs 6 per litre.
