Through a defence exhibition hosted in Dar-es-Salaam on May 27, India attempted to expand its defence partnership with Tanzania, a Southeast African country.
16 indian companies attended Mini def expo event
A Mini-DefExpo was held in Dar es Salaam by the Indian High Commission. A total of 16 Indian companies (7 from the public sector and 9 from the private sector) took part in the event.
The Indian delegation was led by Anurag Bajpai, Joint Secretary, Indian Ministry of Defence.
Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax, Tanzania’s Minister of Defense, was the Chief Guest, and she or he gave the opening remarks. During her remarks, Dr. Tax encouraged TPDF and Indian Partners to collaborate and create partnerships in an open and honest manner.
Lt. Gen. ME Mkinguke, TPDF’s Chief of Staff, and senior TPDF officials were also present. COS Lt Gen Mkingule reflected on India’s and Tanzania’s long-standing ties, adding that bilateral defence collaboration has a lot of potential.
The seminar was adopted by one to one conferences between firms representatives and TPDF officers.

The Indian firms who participated in the occasion are BDL, AVNL, MDL, , L&T, Ashok Leylands, Bharat Forge, Ideaforge Technology, Tata Advanced Systems, Adani Defence, , MKU Ltd, Tunga Aerospace, AWEIL.
It should also be noted that India and Tanzania have a long history of defence cooperation in the areas of trade, capability development, and tool supply. Recently in the primary week of May Deputy NSA Vikram Misri had visited Tanzania throughout which he had met Defence & Foreign Ministers and TPDF officers.
