The IIT-JEE (IIT-Joint Entrance Exam) is now set to go the international way as Central Government is planning to conduct it in other 25 nations simultaneously. Previous years in 2021, JEE was held in 12 countries including Malaysia and Nigeria.

New countries where IIT JEE will be conducted

The new added countries where the examinations will be held include the USA, Australia, South Africa, Singapore, China, Nepal, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and UAE. It is being said that around 3,900 undergraduate and 1,300 postgraduate seats will be made available for the NRIs, Indians and foreign nationals studying overseas.

15% of seats earmarked for NRIs and international students

The move will also affect the National Institutes of Technology, the National Institutes of Information Technology, the School of Planning and Architecture, and other federally supported technical institutes. The major caveat is that IITs will not be covered by the Direct Admission of Student Abroad (DASA) programme. In the colleges listed above, 15% of seats are earmarked for NRIs and international students.

Collaboration of Indian institutions with foreign ones

The Union Education Ministry will welcome those international universities who is in collaboration with India’s higher educational institutions, can offer various courses for students. The Ministry believes that this scheme will help Indian institutions collaborate with foreign ones and motivate foreign universities to send their students to Indian institutions.

Under the Union government’s Institution of Eminence scheme, many universities have been given the status of Institute of Eminence. Foreign students are attracted towards the Institute of Eminence in the country.

According to former IIT Professor D.K. Sharma, every year, thousands of foreign nationals come to the country to take admission in Indian universities.
