Meena Parmar head staff nurse of New Civil Hospital said that she ran away from home when her father forced to join nursing course but today she feels thanked for him.
Parmar is 58 years old lady who is going to retire now. Parmar had a glorious 30 year run as a nurse, a cornerstone of her life’s achievement while serving people, especially the infirm and needy, with commitment and dedication that will remain as textbook example for the future healthcare providers.
Meena realized there is no better job than this
In her 30 years of nursing she realized that there is no better job than being a nurse if one wishes to serve people.
Parmar recovered from 3rd stage breast cancer even undergoing mastectomy of her left breast in 2011. Despite the laborious journey through surgery, chemotherapy and radiation for nearly two years, Parmar hung on to her beliefs and willpower. She rejoined work in 2012 and didn’t stop even amid the raging pandemic handling huge pressure while managing the waves of patients.
Fought with cancer positively
She remained positive throughout her treatment and the removal of her body part didn’t impact her confidence at all.
Parmar’s father was a postal department officer and he had six daughters. He wanted one of them to be a nurse. But the sisters were not very keen to fulfil his desire including Parmar.
Was a reliever for 12 years after joining the services
After leaving home she was somehow convinced to join nursing and soon she realized how noble the profession is. As there were shortage of nurses in government hospitals, she was used as a reliever for 12 years after joining the services. She was sent to different departments wherever there was need when patients increased.
