• The CBSE Class 10 examinations began on April 26 and will end on May 24.
• The CBSE Class 12 board examinations will be held until June 15th.
• These exams have been registered for by nearly 35 lakh students.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is currently holding second term exams for classes 10 and 12. The Class 10 examinations started on April 26 and will end on May 24.
Similarly, the Class 12 board exams will be held until June 15. These exams have been registered for by nearly 35 lakh students from across the country.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, CBSE implemented a two-term system

Students who did not appear in either the first or second-term examinations would not be given a third chance. These students will also be barred from taking compartment examinations. All such students will have to repeat the same class and sit for exams in the following academic year.

In response to the COVID-19 situation in the country and the conduct of board exams, the CBSE board stated that the examinations are currently proceeding smoothly and that there is no such problem at this time.

It should be noted that the CBSE conducts board examinations in two phases, with each term covering half of the syllabus.

The first stage took place in November and December of 2021

According to CBSE’s controller of examinations, Sanyam Bhardwaj, the examinations for Classes 10 and 12 are being held in a single shift during the second phase or term.

The CBSE Board has developed guidelines for compartment exam eligibility and board exam results

However, if a student has completed one stage of the examinations but is unable to take the second stage due to COVID-19, special evaluation methods can be made available to such students. According to CBSE, such students will have options and will not be placed in the category of essential repeat.

According to Bhardwaj, the board examinations have been divided into two parts due to COVID-19. Its purpose was to ensure that if any of the phases of examinations could not be completed due to the coronavirus, the students’ results could be issued based on the results of the second phase of examinations.

The board has made plans for students who are dissatisfied with the results to be reassessed. For this, an online portal will be set up.

The portal will be operational for 2-3 days following the release of the results.
