The Tamil Nadu government has launched an app to help users in emergency. The app named 'Kaaval Uthavi' has 60 features to let people seek police assistance in a distress situation. In such a case, the app is used to send an emergency alert to the police control room so that the concerned person can receive immediate help. By pressing the emergency red button, the user's live location will be communicated directly to the control room.

Kaaval Uthavi: Nearest police station to be notified in an emergency

The app is launched to assist individuals, particularly women, in seeking police assistance in an emergency. According to an official announcement, the app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. It will be a pioneer among the state. The user's information will be collected, and the nearest police station/patrol vehicle will be notified to help the user.

Kaaval Uthavi: Emergency features to help the users

In addition, the app has a feature that allows users to reach the police control room directly by dialing 112/100/101. Dialing from a registered cell phone number makes it easier to determine the user's location and provide appropriate assistance.

By selecting the required complaint type and sub-type, the mobile compliance function may be used to register real-time mobile-based complaints with the control room, along with a brief video or image.

Kaaval Uthavi: Other services available in the app

A police station locator with directions, dialing facility and a control room directory are among the other services available in the app. The announcement noted that lost document reports, vehicle verification, FIR and CSR status, and other services provided by the Tamil Nadu police are also linked and accessible through the portal.
