Renewable energy providers have until April 25 to express interest in creating a hybrid plant with 1.5MW of hydropower and 100MW of floating solar, with the winning bidder receiving a 25-year power purchase agreement.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has issued a request for proposals to build a hybrid power plant at the Morbe Dam on the Dhavari River in Maharashtra, combining 1.5MW of hydroelectric output capacity with 100MW of floating solar.

Three phase of the solar project

The floating solar project will be built in three phases, with a total generation capacity of 40MW, 30MW, and 30MW.

Tariff-based competitive bidding procedure

The developer for a total of 101.5MW of grid-connected renewable energy projects will be chosen through a tariff-based competitive bidding procedure with a ceiling rate of INR3.90/kWh. With the successful developer, the municipality will sign a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

According to the bidding document, "the needed annual generation of power from the hydroelectric plant shall be 10.8 million units and 208.8 million units from the floating solar energy project."
Within 25 months after signing the PPA, the hydroelectric power plant must be up and running. The floating solar project is expected to be operational within 17 months of signing the PPA.
