On Akshaya Tritiya, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik released Rs 800 crore in financial help to 40 lakh farmers in the state under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme, as well as initiating several initiatives to promote the agriculture industry.
The payments were distributed to farmers in all districts except Jharsuguda, where the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced a by-election for the Brajrajnagar Assembly constituency on May 31. The farmers’ accounts have been directly deposited with Rs 2,000 each, according to the Chief Minister.
CM launched 8 initiatives for development of agriculture industry
The Chief Minister announced the commencement of eight programmes aimed at advancing agriculture and benefiting farmers. The Chief Minister stated that the farm sector has been a focus of the government, and that the State government has allocated Rs 20,000 crore in the agriculture budget for 2022-23. In addition, under the State government’s Jackfruit Mission, an allocation of Rs 97 crore has been given as incentives for growers.
The Rejuvenating Watershed for Agricultural Resilience through Innovative Development (Reward) and an unique programme to promote integrated farming were also introduced by the Chief Minister. A total of ‘239 crore has been set aside to help 1.8 lakh farmers in eight districts.
As part of the curriculum
The Chief Minister announced an allocation of Rs 500 crore for REWARD and said that the Millets Mission, which would be expanded, has contributed Rs 2,808 crore to farmers in 19 districts.
On the occasion, he launched the ‘Krushak Odisha’ platform, which allows farmers to update their information and receive vital services. Similarly, the ‘Go-Sugam’ platform was created to help cattle ranchers.
