Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar provided the information. He informed the Lok Sabha that Rs 21,924 crore had been transferred to PM Kisan beneficiaries in the current fiscal year 2022-23 as of July 17.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

During the launch year, 2020-21, the government transferred Rs 55,101 crore to more than 9 crore farmers through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. The scheme distributed Rs 66,483 crore to 10.64 crore farmers from 2021 to 2022.

The minister said that the release of financial benefits under PM Kisan Yojana is a continuous & ongoing process. Farmers are given the benefits under the scheme after proper verification of data by the respective state governments.

Scheme applies to all landholding farmers

The scheme applies to all landholding farmers, regardless of size, with certain exclusion criteria tied to higher income groups. According to the PM Kisan Yojana Operational Guidelines, the entire responsibility for identifying beneficiaries rests with the respective State or UT Governments.

For validation or weeding out of ineligible beneficiaries, the PM Kisan website has been integrated with PFMS, UIDAI, income tax portals, and Pensioners & Employee Record. If benefits are sent to ineligible recipients, they are recovered by the respective state governments after proper verification.

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

Under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, the Centre provides a financial benefit of Rs 6,000 to eligible farmers every year. The amount is paid in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each. Moreover, the money is transferred directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries.

Despite the fact that the PM Kisan scheme is one of the most ambitious schemes of the Central Government, many farmers in the country are unable to benefit from it due to ignorance. On the condition of
anonymity, a farmer from a small village in Jharkhand’s Gumla district stated that he and many others in his village are unaware of this scheme.
