Google Teams Up With an Agritech Company to Bring Technology-Led Solutions to India’s Farmland

Highlights

• Google has partnered with Nurture, Farm
• A variety of research projects have been proposed by Google and nurture, Farm
• Aim is to help speed the adoption of sustainable agriculture techniques

Google has teamed up with agriculture tech open digital platform nurture. Farm to find scalable and cost-effective soil health measuring solutions that include characteristics like soil organic carbon and other critical nutrients.

Overview

To monitor soil health, farmers typically use chemical-based analytical procedures, in which soil samples are collected and examined in a laboratory. However, the technique is problematic because to limited testing facilities, a lack of farmer awareness, and significant logistical and operational costs.

Google and nurture. Farm have proposed certain research projects to help speed up the adoption of sustainable agriculture methods across the United States.

Farmers will be able to improve crop, seed, and nutrient selections across multiple seasons thanks to the collaboration’s quick, economical, and scalable soil health testing techniques.

Aim is to offer smart and creative technology

Google’s AI and image technology, Cloud, advanced geospatial analysis, and machine learning capabilities will all be used.

“With a focus on smallholder farmers in India, our mission at nurture.farm is to offer smart and creative technology-led solutions to farmers to help them make better decisions and achieve better results. We’re working with Google to create a scalable, real-time, and cost-effective soil quality measurement system.” Nurture.farm’s Chief Technology Officer, Pranav Tiwari, stated

The teams will focus on accurately measuring soil organic carbon (SOC) and other nutrients in soil across a variety of soil types and characteristics that reflect the landscape of agricultural practises in India using hyperspectral image analysis in conjunction with other remote sensing and data collection methods.
