The Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) in New Delhi has established the prestigious Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Hindi Patrika Puruskar and Rajarshi Tandon Rajbhasha Puruskar in recognition of ICAR-outstanding CRIJAF’s contribution to the use of Hindi in official work and other official publications.
Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Hindi Patrika Puruskar (2020–21) was awarded to the institute for the release of the Hindi magazine “Resha Kiran.” The articles in this Hindi journal provide in-depth coverage of the developments, problems, and prospects for the jute industry as a whole as well as the cultivation of jute and related fibres.
The institute is also awarded with Rajarshi Tandon Rajbhasha Puruskar (2020-21) for its continuous effort to maximize the use of Hindi (Rajbhasha) in day-to-day official work.
Dr. Gouranga Kar, Director, ICAR-CRIJAF received these awards from Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar during the 94th Foundation Day Ceremony of the Indian Council for Agricultural Research organized in New Delhi on 16.07.22.
NITI Ayog, the Indian Council for Agricultural Research, Puroshattam Rupala, the Union Minister of State for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Kailash Choudhary, the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, as well as other dignitaries and senior ministry officials were present for this momentous occasion.
Dr. Kar congratulated the staff of the institute for these awards and also reiterated that we must work harder in every field to earn recognition and achieve more awards for ICAR-CRIJAF in the future.
About ICAR- CRIJAF
In 1938, the Jute Agricultural Research Laboratory (JARL) was founded in Dhaka by the Central Jute Commission. The Jute Agricultural Research Laboratory moved to Chinsura in West Bengal after the country was divided, and then in 1953 it moved to its current location in Nilganj in Barrackpore as the Jute Agricultural Research Institute (JARI). JARI was taken over by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in 1966. The institution’s name was changed to the Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibres in January 1990. (CRIJAF).
The goal of the ICAR-CRIJAF is to explore traditional and new frontier science areas for technology development, promotion, and policy direction for a thriving, productive, and resilient jute and allied fibre agriculture.
