‘BUSINESS BLASTERS’: THE INITIATIVE TO ENCOURAGE STUDENTS ACQUIRE AN ENTREPRENEURIAL MINDSET

Starting the business at the age of 15-16 will no longer be unusual. This is has become possible due to the Delhi government’s ‘Business Blasters’ initiative. The Delhi government launched the Business Blaster program to help students acquire an entrepreneurial mindset. The project was initiated to help the country’s young entrepreneurs in building their careers. Students build strategies and solutions for their start-ups while continuing their education.

Young entrepreneur

Divyanshi Chitransh, like any other middle-class student, had just wanted to get a nine-to-five job in the future. However, while she was still in school, a business opportunity came up itself. Chitransh, a Class 12 student at the Delhi Government’s School of Excellence (SoE), Khichripur, spends her days implementing marketing tactics for her made-to-order painting company and her evenings finishing her schoolwork. She claims that her demanding schedule has helped her become more productive and has shaped her personality.

Divine Creations by the young entrepreneurs

“I never saw myself in this line of work, yet it combines our love of painting with a lucrative career. I’ve learned a lot while working on my startup,” Diyanshi Chitransh remarked. Chitransh and her business partner Minni founded Divine Creations in Delhi. They have formed their start-up under Delhi Government’s initiative, the ‘Business Blaster’ program.

What is the ‘Business Blaster’ program?

The ‘Business Blaster’ program is a Delhi government initiative. Experts and industrialists provide ongoing assistance and coaching to these teams. The program is a hands-on component of a school-based entrepreneurial mindset curriculum aimed at developing young entrepreneurs. Business Blasters is a start-up program run by the Delhi government in which students offer business ideas and the government assists them in putting their pitches together.

The first phase of the Business Blaster program

The curriculum was introduced for the students of class 11th and 12th. Over 3 lakh students from Delhi government schools formed 51,000 teams and received Rs 60 crore in seed money. At the school, zonal, and district levels, 1,000 teams were chosen in the first phase.
