NARENDRA SINGH TOMAR HAS PUBLISHED A BOOK NAMED INDIAN AGRICULTURE 2030

Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, released a book titled “Indian Agriculture towards 2030: Pathways for Enhancing Farmers’ Income, Nutritional Security, and Sustainable Food and Farm Systems” at an event hosted by NITI Aayog and the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Taking an Overview

This book was published by Springer. This book summarises the outcomes of the national debate between the Ministries of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, and NITI Aayog, which has been facilitated by FAO since 2019. This event was attended by NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant and a member of the NITI Aayog, Professor Ramesh Chand.

  • Governance and structural reforms
  • Transforming Indian Agriculture
  • Agricultural Climate Risk Management
  • Food Safety, Nutrition, and Dietary Diversity
  • India’s agricultural and water transformation symbiosis
  • Science, Technology, and Innovation are three words that come to mind while thinking about science, technology
  • Alternatives for a Biodiverse and Sustainable Future based on Transformative Agroecology
  • Pests, pandemics, preparedness, and biosecurity are all topics that need to be addressed.

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu contributes a foreword to the book. Tomio Shichiri, the previous FAO Representative in India, has also prepared an introduction.

National Dialogue

The national dialogue was held from the 19th to the 22nd of January 2021. The government’s efforts to construct a post-Green Revolution future for India, where nutritional targets can be boosted through agri-food systems, livelihoods can be improved, and environmental and human health can be safeguarded, were reinforced by this discourse.
