The Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya, a museum dedicated to India’s prime ministers, would open on April 14 to coincide with B R Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. The museum, which is being built in Delhi’s Teen 

Murti Estate, will cover the lives and contributions of all 14 Indian prime leaders to date.

The Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya, or Museum of Prime Ministers, is being developed in Delhi’s Teen Murti Estate. If everything goes according to plan, it will be launched on April 14th, the birth anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar.

Taking an Overview:

  • This project was approved in 2018 and a deadline of October 2020 was set for completion.
  • This project has been delayed over the past two years, not only because of pandemic-related lockdowns, but also because of content curation and civil works concerns.
  • This project will cost Rs 270 crore in total.
  • It was ready to open in 2021, however it was postponed owing to last-minute alterations to the displays.

What will be on display at this museum?

This museum will chronicle the lives of all 14 Prime Ministers of India who have served in this capacity thus far. Their participation will be highlighted as well. Jawaharlal Nehru’s works and collection, on the other hand, will be kept at the Nehru Memorial Museum, which was also his home at one point.

Displays

Rare images, newspapers, video clips, interviews, and original texts will be on display in this museum. This museum will also feature displays of personal items such as caps, pens, letters, and other items, as well as interactive digital displays. The emphasis will be on virtual reality and digital displays. All future PMs will be able to visit this museum, as well. This museum will have galleries on the ground floor, first floor, and basement, all of which will be open to the public.
