MANSUKH MANDAVIYA, MINISTER OF HEALTH, MEETS WITH WHO CHIEF; DISCUSS PROMOTING AYURVEDA TO ADVANCE GLOBAL WELLNESS



During his visit to Delhi on Tuesday, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya met with WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and discussed promoting Ayurveda for global health and wellness.

Ghebreyesus, the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), is in India with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the laying of the foundation stone for the WHO Global Center for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

Had an excellent interaction,Dedication to promote ayurveda

Tedros and Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh, Regional Director, WHO South-East Asia Region and Minister of Health, paid a visit to the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) earlier in the day.
“During our visit to the All India Institute of Ayurveda in New Delhi, we had a fantastic meeting with the Director General of the World Health Organization, @WHO @DrTedros.”

In a tweet, Mandaviya stated, “We also talked about our dedication to promote Ayurveda for worldwide health and wellness.”

Ayurveda gaining global popularity

Ayurveda, as well as our traditional knowledge and treatments, is rising in popularity around the world.

“The Government of Prime Minister Shri @NarendraModi ji is actively collaborating with @WHO to share research, training, and best practises in this field in order to accomplish our common aim of providing holistic healthcare,” the Minister wrote on Twitter.

The WHO Global Center for Traditional Medicine, according to Poonam Khetrapal Singh, aims to ensure and improve the quality and safety of traditional medicine and practises by providing an integrated approach to health care.

By focusing on four critical areas of work – Evidence and Learning, Data and Analysis, Stability and Equity, and Innovation and Technology – GCTM will prove to be a game-changer with its worldwide reach.

The WHO regional director stated, “This will help harness the power of traditional medicine to accomplish the SDG 3 goal of ensuring health and promoting well-being for all ages.
