Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, promised on 21ST April to create roads in Chhattisgarh that are equivalent to those in the United States of America during the next five years.
Gadkari, who was speaking at a ceremony to lay the foundation stone for 33 highway projects worth Rs.9,240 crore in the Congress-ruled state of Maharashtra, has long campaigned for increased expenditure on the country’s road infrastructure. Gadkari told parliament last month that the government’s huge road network expansion will bring India’s road infrastructure up to level with that of the United States by December 2024.
At the event, he emphasized his point about the development
Strengthening the water, transportation, power, and communication sectors are critical for every state’s progress. The growth of agriculture and industry is accelerated by the balanced development of these four sectors, which leads to the creation of jobs.
As a result, establishing a road network across the country is critical. In the next five years, I tell you, we will create roads in Chhattisgarh that will be comparable to those in America,” Gadkari said.
A two-lane section from Manendragarh to Surajpur and a two-lane stretch from Chilpi to Kawardha were also formally dedicated by the minister. The 33 road projects, according to Gadkari, will increase the connection between Chhattisgarh and Odisha, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
In Maoist-affected areas, the minister again stressed the significance of focusing on road building.
