The Government of India has made a big change in the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC Students. Now children of people who pick up waste are also included in the scheme.

Rename of Pre Matric Scholarship Scheme

The change has been made by the Union Ministry of Social and Empowerment and this scheme will continue till the academic session 2025-26. The name of the scheme has also been changed to Pre Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC and Others.

Who will get the scholarship and the required annual income of parents?

This scholarship is given to the students studying in class 9th and 10th of SC category and the annual income of their parents should not exceed 2.5 lakhs. Children of waste pickers will get this scholarship from class 1 to 10 and the annual income of their parents has not been fixed. Students taking advantage of this scheme will not be able to take advantage of any other kind of scholarship.

Documents required according to the scheme

In this scheme, students will have to apply afresh on the National Scholarship Portal. The registration forms of students below 18 years of age will be filled by their parents. Along with this, students will have to upload their original educational documents. They have to upload the latest copy of Aadhaar, which is linked with the bank. Bank Name, Branch Name, IFSC Code will also have to be uploaded. Students who do not have bank accounts can enter the details of their parents’ bank accounts on the portal. They will also have to upload the Bonafide Certificate on the National Scholarship Portal.
