The project for the construction and maintenance of a cable-stayed bridge across the Chambal river on the Kota Bypass on NH-76 of the East-West Corridor in Rajasthan has been completed, according to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.

1.4-kilometer bridge is part of Kota Bypass and East-West corridor

“The Government, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is working round the clock to enhance infrastructure in our country,” he wrote in a series of tweets. He also stated that the 1.4-kilometer bridge is part of the Kota Bypass and the East-West corridor connecting Porbander (Gujarat) and Silcher (Assam), which Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated in 2017.

The bridge has a robust system that can handle extreme traffic situations, heavy rains, winds, and storms, and is even equipped to send an earthquake notification to the bridge’s control room. It was built entirely with capital expenditure (CAPEX) worth Rs 214 crore.

Bridge’s cables are aerodynamic in nature and can be neutral in stormy winds

“To prevent wildlife disturbance, a 7.5 m Noise Barrier with approx 70% visibility in 700 m length on both sides of the bridge has been installed,” the Minister added.

He added that the project not only benefited residents of Rajasthan’s Hadoti region, but it also helped to alleviate traffic congestion in Kota.
