The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to transfer money directly to the bank accounts of parents of students in grades one through eight for the purpose of purchasing uniforms and other items for the academic year 2022-23. The decision was made at a meeting of the state cabinet on Tuesday, which was presided over by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Parents of students from classes one to eight in government primary, upper primary, and aided schools will receive money directly in their accounts for the purchase of uniforms, sweaters, shoes, socks, school bags, and stationery in the academic session 2022-23, an official spokesperson said here. The spokesperson, however, did not reveal the total amount to be transferred into the parents’ bank accounts.
The cabinet also approved a proposal to issue advance financial approval for the entire amount for purchasing these items every year, rather than waiting for the Centre’s share. According to officials, the scheme’s goal for the academic year 2022-23 is to benefit approximately two crore students. The cabinet also approved a proposal authorising the chief minister to make future decisions on any process or rate change.
