This electronic company created world’s largest OLED television

LG Electronics announced the world’s largest organic light-emitting diode (OLED) TV at the latest trade show in the United States in an effort to target the premium TV market in North America.

LG Electronics unveiled its 97-inch OLED TV lineup, dubbed the OLED evo Gallery Edition, at the Consumer Electronics Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) Expo 2022 in Dallas, Texas, according to Yonhap news agency.

Last month, the South Korean consumer electronics behemoth unveiled the 97-inch OLED TV at the IFA 2022 electronics trade show in Berlin. The company also displayed the Flex, the world’s first bendable OLED gaming monitor, and the movable LG StanbyME at CEDIA 2022.

LG Electronics stated that with the latest new lineup, it hopes to cement its leadership in the premium TV market in the United States, where high demand is expected during major shopping seasons such as Black Friday in November and Christmas. OLED TVs accounted for 33.2 percent of LG’s total TV sales in the first half.

TV manufacturers have increased their efforts in the higher-end, more profitable segment, where demand has slowed less dramatically than in the budget category.

According to industry tracker Omdia, Samsung Electronics Co. has a 53.6 percent market share in the premium TV segment, which includes TVs priced at $2,500 or more. LG has a 21.5 percent market share and Sony has a 17.2 percent market share.

LG maintained its dominant position in the OLED TV market, selling 1.69 million units in the first half, accounting for approximately 62 percent of total global OLED shipments.
