Green Technology and Its Rising Popularity

Introduction

With the urge for the global reduction of greenhouse gases that leads to pollution and global warming, green technology development has been prioritized. Green technology is considered to be environment-friendly based on its characteristics and the production of its supply chain. It is the result of the application of environmental sciences, green chemistry, environmental monitoring, and electronic devices that ensure to conserve the natural environment and curb the use of fossil fuels. It also refers to the generation of sustainable sources of technologies such as photovoltaics, solar panels, and wind turbines.

From reducing the use of methane with biomass to the reduction of fossil fuels in households and vehicles with heat and electricity, different tech goods are being designed and produced to reduce further damage to the planet.

History

Though green technology has gained popularity in recent times, the idea of diverting toward a cleaner future saw the light of day in the early 19th century when scientists started noticing the harmful ecological impacts of the conventional methods that use fossil fuels to run the world.

The second world war marked a significant milestone in the United States when more than forty thousand volunteers started collecting metal, paper, rubber, etc for the war effort. Since the war scientists have been siting alarming consequences of pollution, greenhouse gases, and nuclear radiation and how it can severely affect health and cause serious and life-threatening illnesses.

Types and Advantages of Green Tech

Green tech is a vast category that encompasses various forms of environmental redemption from global issues.

• Alternate Energy- To avoid further damage to the environment, various businesses are seeking engineers and developers to come up with technologies to provide alternative energy sources that do not generate atmospheric carbon.

• Electric Vehicles- By creating e-vehicles, a major change in pollution levels has been noticed. From using electricity (a renewable source of energy) to the reduction of the use of fossil fuels, considerable growth in low automotive emissions has been noted.

• Sustainable Agriculture- As agriculture is an important part of ecology, it needs to be cleanly cultivated. From coming up with new technologies to avoid the use of harmful and chemically produced pesticides and fertilizers to developing technologies to avoid soil exhaustion, innovations in cattle feed can reduce methane emission
and by developing meat substitutes livestock consumption can be reduced.

• Recycling- Recycling ensures the conservation of scarce resources by reusing the same materials in different forms, shapes, and spheres. Though paper, plastic, glass, and metals are the most popular recyclable substances, further improvement in technology can help recover expensive raw materials from E-wastes.

Future Aspects of Green Technology

From using E-bikes or cars on a daily basis instead of public transport and using electrical gadgets at homes, offices, schools, etc, to paying attention to less use of plastic and carbon-emitting technologies, people have been seen taking small yet significant steps to boost the green technology industry in order to redeem the planet from the ecological and environmental damage. Green tech can also change the way energy is produced and stored making it convenient for techies to use it in their designed gadgets.

With polar caps continuing to melt, sea levels rising and rainforests disappearing, a lot of flora and fauna are getting lost causing an imbalance in the ecology. A sustainable future depends on three factors- economic, ecologic, and social and the aim is to develop technologies to maintain an equivalent balance between the three.
Investors and companies have made considerable efforts to bring the development of green technology into action. If these growing investments are combined with innovative and excellent minds and bold entrepreneurs, green technology can effectively replace the harmful and conventional modes of technology and meet the
demands of the crowd staying within the production limit of the planet.
