As India gears up to celebrate its 75th Republic Day on January 26, 2024, the festivities promise to be extraordinary, placing women at the forefront of the grand parade at Kartavya Path. This marks a significant departure from the norm, aligning with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s belief that ‘India is truly a mother of democracy.’
Let’s delve into the exciting details that make this Republic Day celebration unique.
A Parade of Firsts:
The 75th Republic Day Parade aims to break new ground by being entirely women-centric. From the themes to the participants, the celebration is designed to showcase the strength and contribution of women in India. The overarching themes, ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) and ‘Bharat – Loktantra ki Matruka’ (India – Mother of Democracy), embody the essence of progress and democratic values.
For the first time in history, the Republic Day Parade will kick off with a musical prelude led by 100 talented women artists playing traditional Indian musical instruments. The melodious notes of Sankh, Naadswaram, Nagada, and more will fill the air as the parade sets the stage for a spectacular celebration.
Breaking traditional barriers, the parade will witness an all-women Tri-Service contingent marching down Kartavya Path. This historic moment highlights the growing role and capabilities of women in the defense forces, a testament to their dedication and service to the nation.
Anant Sutra – The Endless Thread:
The Ministry of Culture adds a visual feast to the celebration with ‘Anant Sutra – The Endless Thread.’ This textile installation, showcased at Kartavya Path, pays homage to the timeless Indian saree. Featuring nearly 1,900 sarees and drapes from across the country, this unique installation serves as a vibrant tapestry of India’s rich weaving and embroidery arts.
Enhanced Public Participation:
To ensure maximum public involvement, the number of seats for the general public has been increased. Approximately 77,000 spectators can witness the parade, with 42,000 seats reserved for the general public. Tickets can be booked online through www.aamantran.mod.gov.in, allowing more people to be part of this national celebration.
Around 13,000 special guests from across India have been invited to witness the parade, ensuring Jan Bhagidari or people’s participation. In a remarkable move, 1,500 farmers and their spouses have received special invitations, aligning with the government’s vision of involving citizens from all walks of life in the national festival.
Reflecting the theme of ‘Jan Bhagidari,’ the celebration will feature Republic Day Tableaux, cultural performances, military bands, a Crafts Bazaar, and Food Courts serving diverse Indian cuisines. The aim is to provide a platform for citizens from different backgrounds to actively participate in the national festivities.

Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, has been invited as the chief guest for India’s Republic Day Celebrations 2024. This marks the sixth time that a French leader will grace the occasion, highlighting the robust diplomatic ties between India and France.
