What is in the News?
The Telangana government introduced the Mana Ooru Mana Badi scheme. The programme will help the state build school infrastructure. It is expected to cost Rs 7,289 crores to implement. The programme will assist more than 19.84 lakh children.
Concerning the programme
The initiative will be deployed in 9,123 local body schools and government in the first phase. The appropriate district collectors will provide approval to build infrastructure under the scheme. The initiative will be carried out by management committees established at each school.

- The government has decided to enact a new law to regulate the fees charged by state schools. This includes both public and private schools.
- English as a second language will be taught in government schools.
- It is planned to establish a women’s university as well as a forest university.
- Students with degrees from the Forest College of Research and Institute in the Siddipet district are given priority in job recruitment. These students will be given a 25% reservation in the Assistant Conservator of Forests recruitment and a 50% reserve in the Forest Range Officer recruitment. The Telangana State Forest Subordinate Service regulations and the Telangana State Forest Service rules 1997 were revised to execute this.
English medium
Telangana’s government is introducing English as a second language in government schools because parents in rural areas are willing to send their children only to English-medium institutions. Under the Mana Ooru Mana Badi scheme, the government will build infrastructure that meets all of the rural people’s demands.
