Labharthiyon se Rubaroo initiative

As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Labarthiyon Se Rubaroo initiative has been planned. It was launched by MoHUA in September 2021. This effort was started to keep track of the Mission’s projects by interacting with beneficiaries directly.

The Secretary of MoHUA interacted with PMAY(U) recipients from Assam, Kerala, and Jharkhand during the session to learn about their empowerment tales and life-changing experiences after receiving their own pucca house. It was also possible to take a virtual tour of their homes. The Initiative, hosted by MoHUA alongside beneficiaries, was in its 22nd edition.

The Labarthiyon Se Rubaroo initiative has the following goals:

• To keep track of the status of housing projects
• By directly communicating with the beneficiaries, we can achieve effective governance and transparency.
• To provide a forum for officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and their respective States/UTs to facilitate and accelerate the construction of dwellings in their local cities and towns.
• To generate a sense of belonging among beneficiaries.

The mission’s importance

The ability to live in a home is the most important measure of a person’s economic and social well-being and dignity. As a result, the mission acknowledges this fact and promotes women’s empowerment through assuring home ownership. Every residence built under the mission provides security, safety, and essential civic facilities such as a toilet, kitchen, water connection, and electricity.

The PMAY(U) programme is now in its eighth year of operation. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) unveiled it on June 25, 2015. So far, the government has approved 114.04 lakh houses out of a total demand of 112 lakh. A total of 93.25 lakh dwellings have been approved for building, with over 54.78 lakh having been constructed and distributed to the recipients.
