During the 139th IOC Session in Beijing, China, India earned the privilege to host the 2023 International Olympic Committee (IOC) session in Mumbai in an unopposed race. The Indian delegation included Abhinav Bindra, the country’s first individual Olympic gold medalist (Beijing 2008, shooting), IOC Member Nita Ambani, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Narinder Batra, and Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur. They gave the presentation to IOC members at the 139th IOC Session, which is taking place in Beijing concurrently with the Winter Olympics.

IOC session

An IOC session is the yearly assembly of the IOC’s members, who are divided into 101 voting members and 45 honorary members. It discusses and makes decisions on the important activities of the worldwide Olympic movement, such as the election of IOC members and office bearers, the approval or change of the Olympic Charter, and the selection of the Olympic host city.
