INDIA WILL ESTABLISH ITS FIRST IIT OUTSIDE OF INDIA IN THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • India has announced the establishment of the first Indian Institute of Technology, IIT, in Dubai.
  • Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal inked an India-UAE trade agreement.
  • JEE Advanced 2022 will be held by IIT Bombay this year.

As part of the India-UAE trade agreement signed on February 18, 2022, India has announced the establishment of the first Indian Institute of Technology, IIT, in Dubai. This will be the first time that India’s premier institute, IIT, gets established outside of India.

Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA)

After a bilateral meeting between the two countries’ representatives, the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, or CEPA, was signed. With the UAE delegation led by Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri and Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal inked an India-UAE trade agreement.

National institute of India

IITs are National institute of India and there are currently 23 IITs in the country. These 23 IITs are located across the different parts of the country and offer undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and doctoral (PhD) programmes. IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Madras are among India’s top IITs. IITs are well-known for providing B Tech and M Tech degree programmes.

JEE Advanced

The Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Advanced, is used to admit students to IITs. Students who have passed the JEE Mains are eligible to take the JEE Advanced. The test or registration date for JEE Mains 2022 is yet to be declared. JEE Mains is administered by the National Testing Agency, and JEE Advanced 2022 will be held by IIT Bombay this year.
