Prime Minister Narendra Modi becoming the first foreign head of government to receive the Order of Druk Gyalpo, Bhutan’s highest civilian honor.

This prestigious recognition marks a significant milestone in India-Bhutan relations.

PM Modi received the honor from Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck in Thimphu.

He is the first non-Bhutanese individual to be conferred with this honor.

Only four eminent personalities have received this award previously, including Bhutan’s Royal Queen Grandmother Ashi Kesang Choden Wangchuck and Chief Abbot Je Khenpo Trulku Ngawang Jigme Choedra

PM Modi expressed his gratitude and dedicated the honor to 140 crore Indians.

Bhutan welcomed PM Modi with a red-carpet reception, and people lined the streets to greet him during his visit.

Bhutanese youngsters even performed a special garba song penned by PM Modi to welcome him.
