A small asteroid, named 2024 PT5, is currently orbiting Earth as a temporary mini-moon
This mini-moon is only 10 meters wide, which is too small to see with the naked eye.
Don't get too attached to our new space neighbor! 2024 PT5 will stay with Earth until November 25th, 2024, before heading back into space.
It was first spotted on August 7, 2024, by a NASA-funded program called ATLAS.
This isn’t the first mini-moon Earth has had! Similar events occurred in 1997, 2013, and 2018.
The article mentions a connection to the Mahabharata, hinting at ancient texts discussing cosmic events.
Unfortunately, 2024 PT5 is too small to be visible to the naked eye. But space enthusiasts with telescopes can track this rare occurrence while it lasts!
After November 25th, 2024, Earth will say goodbye to 2024 PT5 as it leaves our orbit and continues its journey through space. Stay tuned for more cosmic surprises!
