Kashmir organises Tournament to boost Golf Tourism and make J&K golf capital of India

Starting on July 5, a golf tournament will be held by the Jammu and Kashmir Department of Tourism in an effort to increase the number of golfers in the valley and grow golf tourism. There will be 88 golfers in all competing in the Kashmir competition, some of whom are from the south of India. The Addicts Golfing Society, one of the oldest golf clubs in India, includes players from the southern Indian states. The competition is being staged to advertise Kashmir’s golfing scene.

Where the golf tournament played

Kashmir has a total of three international standard golf courses located in Srinagar, Pahalgam, and Gulmarg. The golf tournament organised by the tourism department will be played at the Royal Springs Golf Course in Srinagar and the Lidder Valley Golf Course in Pahalgam.

Aim of making J&K, the golfing capital of India

Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary of the Tourism Department, wants to make Jammu and Kashmir the golfing capital of India. According to Greater Kashmir, Hafeez sees great potential in the UT and claims that the department is working hard to make its goal a reality.

The golf tournament will lay the foundation and pave the path for bigger and better golf events that the department plans to organise in the coming future. With the development in golf tourism, the department expects to attract domestic and international golf enthusiasts.

For golfers who come to play, Kashmir offers a world-class experience. Since June 2021, the influx has been increasing. Another reason for the increase in golf players is that it is less expensive to play than in other states, such as Delhi, where one game costs Rs 5000.
