  • The decision came as a result of the decline in the COVID-19 cases across the country.

COVID-19 brought the whole world to a halt. As a result of the lockdown, several locations, including holy sites, were placed under restrictions. After being hit by the COVID-19 regulations, now the whole world is progressively returning to normalcy.

With this, now the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to increase the number of Slotted Sarva Darshan (SSD) tokens and tickets issued for the darshan of Lord Venkateswara. The decision came as a result of the decline in the COVID-19 cases across the country. Soon there will be an increase in the number of devotees visiting the holy shrine of Tirupati.

Devotees increasing at the holy shrine

As the world is slowly moving towards normalcy, people have again started visiting holy places. Tirupati is one of the most important holy sites for the devotees and an attractive tourist spot in many ways. It is one of the most visited pilgrimage centre in India. The holy temple is again witnessing a surge in visitors. The number of devotees seeking darshan at the Tirupati Devasthanam increased by about 50% between February 1 and February 21. On February 1, roughly 29,000 worshipers visited the sacred shrine, however by February 21, the number had risen to 39,000.

Slots increased with an increase in devotees

The TTD has been making extra provisions to accommodate additional visitors as the number of devotees visiting Tirupati has slowly increased. When the daily allotment of Sarva darshan tokens is exceeded, the TTD gives tickets to devotees for the following days. The TTD has started providing 15,000 offline Sarva darshan tokens every day since last week.

The world is returning to normalcy

As there is a decline in the Covid-19 cases across the country, the TTD is planning to bring back the number of devotees to pre-Covid-19 days. The TTD is likely to distribute an extra around 13,000 tickets regularly for the dates of February 24-28. 5000 offline SSD tokens will be distributed in the Srinivasam Complex, Sri Govindaraja Swamy Choultries, and Bhudevi Complex, among other locations in Tirupati.
