The ‘Pramarsh 2022’ career counselling programme for school children in the Bikaner District region was launched by Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Culture and Parliamentary Affairs. This programme drew a total of one lakh children from over a thousand schools across the Bikaner district, the majority of who were from rural areas.

Overview

The event was co-hosted by the National Institute of Career Services (NICS) of the Ministry of Labour and Employment and Edumilestones, an educational start-up. This session was also supported by
Rajasthan’s Directorate of Education.

The “Pramarsh 2022” workshop was the outcome of efforts to bridge the industry-academic divide and inform students about their various alternatives.

All you need to know about the workshop

Not only will the workshop provide teacher training and career workshops for students, but it will also feature an online and offline career evaluation as well as access to Edumilestones’ digital career library for all attendees.

Professionals from a number of sectors, including policy planning, business, art, industry associations, media, culture, architecture, health, finance, biotechnology, and marketing, provided advise to students from both government and private schools.

Prior to the career counselling event, over 1000 teachers were trained as career ambassadors in all Bikaner schools to ensure that the entire programme could run smoothly.

National Institute of Career Services

The National Institute for Career Service was founded in October 1964. It evolved from the realization that the Employment Service’s effectiveness was contingent on well-trained officers and continuing market research. In 1970, the Institute was expanded to include the publishing of career literature, and in 1987, it was expanded again to include the function of dealing with issues relating to self-employment promotion.

The NCS portal was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July 2015 with the purpose of linking diverse opportunities with the dreams of youths by delivering job services in a user-friendly and transparent manner.

These services, as well as career counselling information, will be available through a range of channels, including career centres, mobile devices, and the portal itself.
