Characteristics

Elementary education will be provided to children in classes 1 through 5 under the system. The classes will take place on the ground. Extracurricular activities would be promoted and supported among the students . Meals will be served in the middle of the day.

The scheme's necessity

According to NITI Aayog, the primary school dropout rate was 6.61 percent in 2010-11. In addition, since COVID, the number of pupils attending school has declined across India. West Bengal's rural areas are yet to obtain internet access. The open room classroom is the ideal technique to bring in primary school children in this situation. It is reasonably priced. To carry out its plan, the state administration has already taken out loans from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

Bengali or English language is mostly used to provide instructions. Urudu is also used in central Kolkata. The state is mostly known for its higher education institutions. The state's literacy rate jumped from 68.64 percent in 2001 to 77.08 percent in 2011. The literacy rate for women is 70.54 percent, whereas it is 81.69 percent for men. To comply with the new Education Policy for 2020, the state's education pattern may be changed to 5+3+3+4.

How is the state's performance in the field?

In the state, there are more than 33 universities. There is also over 500 degree-granting institutions. The state is one of India's most prominent educational centres. Seven colleges in the state were ranked in the top hundred by the National Institute Ranking Framework. In addition, five of the state's universities were ranked first.
