What is in the News?

Sadbhawana is a Sanskrit word that means "goodwill." The Indian Army started Operation Sadbhawana in Jammu and Kashmir. The project's major goal was to assist people in the region who had been affected by terrorism. The operations are mostly focused on meeting people's dreams.

Why was the project started in the first place?

Terrorist groups in Kashmir are attempting to destabilize government officials and target public symbols and services. By doing so, the organizations hope to alienate the local population. They become easy prey once they've been alienated. This has the potential to attract more people to terrorism.

Concerning the project

The major goal of the project is to integrate locals into the national mainstream. Its goal is to reduce Pakistan's proxy warfare in the region.

What is the purpose of the project?

It primarily concentrates on five topics. Infrastructure development, education, community development initiatives, women's and youth empowerment, as well as health and sanitation, are among them. The endeavor will counterbalance Pakistan's anti-India propaganda in Kashmir.

Education

The operation has so far resulted in the establishment of 46 goodwill schools by the Indian army. Schools were refurbished in the year 1900. The Indian Army has aided in the development, renovation, and alteration of infrastructure. The Jammu and Kashmir State Educational Board presently oversees all of these schools. Pahalgam and Rajouri are two of the boarding institutions in the area. They are a CBSE-affiliated school.

Infrastructure Improvements

The Indian Army has increased water delivery as part of the mission. It has also improved road connectivity.

Medical Assistance

In remote and inaccessible places, medical centres were established. Since the operation began, more than 283 medical camps have been held. Mobile medical teams have been established. They are now providing medical assistance to folks at their doorsteps.

Empowerment of women and youth

Training in the development of skills was made available. Knitting, computer skills, candle making, tailoring, bag making, basket weaving, fashion design, and horticulture are all included. Employment nodes for youth guidance have been established.

Tours

Under the programme, national integration tours were planned. Its goal is to bring together thought leaders and students from all across the world.
