RUBBER GIRL: ANVI HONORED WITH PM MODI RASHTRIYA BAL PURASKAR-2022

Highlights-

  • Anvi Vijay Jhanjharukia, was honored with the Prime Minister’s National Child Award-2022.
  • Anvi has won more than 51 medals in Yoga.
  • Born with disabilities, Avni won all of these honors by competing against normal children, i.e. healthy children.

Lamenting on your disabilities is easy but challenging them is tough. Only few individuals are able to overcome their disabilities and prove themselves to the world. Anvi is one of those best fitters out there.
On National Girl Child Day, Anvi Vijay Jhanjharukia, was honored with the Prime Minister’s National Child Award-2022. After addressing the award-winning children, the Prime Minister presented the award and certificate to Anvi in a virtual ceremony at the District Collector’s office.

Anvi has won more than 51 medals in Yoga. The girl from Surat Gujarat is referred as the ‘Rubber Girl’ for being extremely flexible with her Yoga postures.

Born with disabilities

Anvi is born with a slew of illnesses. Anvi has had three major health issues since birth: “congenital heart defect,” for which she has had open-heart surgery, “TRISOMY 21,” which has left her with a 75% intellectual disability, and Hirschsprung’s disease, which affects the large intestine (colon) and causes problems passing stool.

‘The Rubber Girl’

Avni has been practicing yoga for three years. Despite her many problems, Anvi is familiar with the wonderful art of yoga, which allows her to bend her body in various ways. As a result, she’s become known as the ‘Rubber Girl’.

Achievements of Anvi

Anvi has received medals in a number of state and national yoga competitions. In three national-level competitions over the last three years, Anvi has won three gold medals and two bronze medals. She has competed in 42 competitions and received 51 medals so far. President Ram Nath Kovind presented her with the National Award in the Creative Child with Disability category by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on December 3, 2021, in recognition of her exceptional skill.

Role Model for the disabled children

Anvi continues to serve as an inspiration to all disadvantaged youngsters. And the most essential thing to note is that she won all of these honours by competing against normal children, i.e. healthy children, because there is no distinct category in yoga for mentally challenged children.

Willing to share same platform with PM

Anvi’s father, Vijay Jhanjharukia, stated that Anvi aspires to raise the country’s profile in the world by reaching new heights in yoga. The government has so far welcomed it, but Anvi wants to practise yoga and Suryanamaskar alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the same stage.
