  • India ranks 3rd in organ donation and transplantation.
  • JeetejiRaktdaan, Marne kebaadAngadaan"- should be the motto of our life", says Health Minister MansukhMandaviya.

While addressing the event he further said India now ranks 3rd globally in organ donation and transplantation, according to the data available on the Global Observatory on Donation and Transplantation (GODT) website.

The event was launched by Union Ministers to promote organ donation and to commemorate the gift of life provided by deceased donors to transplant recipients.

'Shubh' and 'Laabh’

While describing the importance of organ donation the Health Minister linked it with our culture and said, "Our culture emphasizes 'Shubh' and 'Laabh,' where personal happiness is linked to the greater welfare of the community. It is an honor for me to be a part of the 12th Indian Organ Donation Day, which honors the noble cause of organ donation”.

AngdaanMahadaan

Every year since 2010, Indian Organ Donation Day has been observed to honor the contributions of dead donors and their families to society. “Society is gradually changing, and with the sanctity and preciousness of every life becoming visible to all, persons who have committed 'Angdaan' will soon be viewed with the same respect shown to those who give their hard-earned wealth to charity.", Union Health Minister, MansukhMadaviya. He further said that the rate of organ donation has nearly quadrupled since 2012-13.

Not only pledge, but also spread the word

The Health Minister urged people to not only pledge to donate their organs but also to raise awareness about the shortage of organs available for transplant in the country and to encourage others to do so. "Everyone in society, including doctors, aware citizens, governments, and the media, must play an active part in addressing organ donation hesitation and increasing organ donation across the country," he stated.
