Saree, the biggest love of all women! A traditional attire that enhances the beauty of the ladies. Be it any occasion, the woman remains ready always to wave in saree. Women are known to be very budget-friendly, but sometimes the condition does not apply when buying a saree. Their love and craziness of wearing a saree of their own choice cannot match with any other thirst. But on the other hand, women belonging to the lower middle class or lower class cannot afford a high-ranging saree, and that too for wearing only a couple of times. But what if they start getting it on free? Saree of their own choice and that too free of cost! Yes, this sounds to be true… A saree library in Vadodara is ready to accomplish this wish of the women.

Easy solution for women

The wedding season is going on. On such occasions around 4-5 heavy sarees are required for different functions. Those heavy sarees cost around 5-10K per saree, which are only used once and again get packed and wrapped in the almirah. Some women find it to be a waste of money for spending such a heavy amount on one-time wear. In that condition, the sari library is a wonder for many women.

Sarees available for free rental

The saree library is a one-of-a-kind initiative. The library was founded a few months ago by eight city women — a mix of entrepreneurs and housewives. The saris in the library were all donated and are available for free rental.

The procedure of renting a saree

All the women have to do is pay a deposit and take the sarees home with them. The deposit is returned once the sarees are given back, and only dry-cleaning charges are levied against the women. Since the library began, over 200 women from various walks of life have taken home some of the most beautiful outfits from the sari library.

Nearly 300 saris and dresses have been donated to our library by different women. The library also consists of some of the best and expensive Banarasi and chiffon saris.

“Not all women can afford to buy an expensive saree”

“Women enjoy wearing different saris for various occasions. However, not all women, particularly those from the middle or lower-middle classes, can afford to buy expensive saris that are only worn a couple of times,” said HemaChauhan of the AshtaSaheli Group, which founded the library.

“There are also working women from well-to-do families who, due to their hectic schedules, are unable to shop much. So we decided to open a library where women could get the best saris and dresses for free. They can wear the sari or dress for a week and then return it,” Chauhan added.
