Expedition of Ms Chandi
Ms Chandi’s expedition began in November of last year, when she set out unassisted from Antarctica’s Hercules Inlet.
She spent the next three weeks single skiing across Antarctica, announcing on January 3 that she had finished the 700-mile (1126-kilometer) journey in 40 days.

Ms Chandi wrote on her blog, “I made it to the South Pole, where it’s snowing.”
“I’m experiencing a lot of emotions right now… it feels so surreal to finally be here,” the 32-year-old, who goes by the alias “Polar Preet,” added.
“Antarctica is the world’s coldest, tallest, driest, and most windy continent. Nobody lives there long-term. When I originally started preparing, I didn’t know much about the continent, and that is what drew me to it “Ms Chandi has previously stated.
Chandi’s crevasse training
She spent two and a half years prepping for her trip to the South Pole, which included crevasse training in the French Alps and hiking in Iceland.
The Indian-origin British army officer dragged a pulk or sledge that weighed over 90 kg and held her equipment, fuel, and food during her Antarctica mission.
The British Army’s Chief of General Staff commended
The British Army’s Chief of General Staff commended Ms Chandi on completing her journey, calling her a “inspirational example of fortitude and commitment.”
