“DESH KE MENTOR”: AN INITIATIVE BY DELHI GOVERNMENT FOR GUIDING STUDENTS ON CAREER CHOICES

Education is a right to every human! The government runs a number of programs to make education more accessible to every student. These schemes range from scholarships to providing various types of facilities to students. The Delhi government also launches such schemes frequently. These programs assist students in overcoming obstacles to obtaining an education.

Adding to this, Delhi Government has recently launched the “ Desh Ke Mentor” program. This scheme has been started under the Youth for Education initiative. This scheme will connect young people from all over the country. Desh Ke Mentor scheme has been prepared by the Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi. Actor Sonu Sood is the brand ambassador of this scheme.

Benefits of the program
The mentor scheme has been started by Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal. Through this scheme, children studying in government schools of Delhi will be provided guidance by the Mentors. This scheme has been launched in order to empower and make the government school students more self-reliant.
An appeal will be made to teachers and citizens across the country to take responsibility for at least 2 to 10 children from government schools and provide them with career guidance. The mentor can contact the child by phone and meet with them in person if they live nearby. Actor Sonu Sood has also urged citizens across the country to participate in this program. Sonu Sood will also offer advice to the children.

• The applicant should be a permanent resident of Delhi.
• Aadhar card
• Address proof
• Income certificate
• Age proof
• Ration card
• Passport size photograph
• Mobile number

Aim of the Program
Parents of poor children enrolled in the Desh Ke Mentor Yojana are also uneducated. They are unable to provide career guidance in such a situation. Keeping this in mind, the Delhi Government has launched this scheme. Students in Delhi’s government schools will now be able to seek advice from educated citizens across the country. They will become more empowered and self-sufficient as a result of this program. Moreover, their standard of living will also improve.
